"Kenyan Cult Leader Charged with Terrorism in Starvation Deaths Case"

Kenyan cult leader Paul Mackenzie and 94 others have been charged with "terrorism"-related crimes over the deaths of 429 followers, whose bodies were found in the Shakahola forest. Rising Death Toll in Kenya's Starvation Cult Uncovered.

Dozens of bodies have been exhumed from mass graves in a forest in Kenya, where members of the Good News International Church are believed to have starved themselves to death in order to reach heaven before the end of the world. The graves were discovered by rights organisation Haki Africa, which estimates that there are around 60 mass grave sites in the area. The final death toll could be much higher than the 89 bodies already exhumed, as 112 people have been reported missing. The church's leader, Pastor Makenzie Nthenge, has been charged in connection with the deaths of two children and is now back in police custody.

Kenyan Cult Members Fast to Death Under Pastor's Leadership

Fifteen members of the Good News International Church in Kenya were rescued from a fast after being told they were going to meet their maker, but four died during the rescue mission. The survivors were in a critical condition and had been radicalised by a church member who was arrested last month and later released in connection with the deaths of two boys in the same area. Police were investigating reports of more victims.
