NASA astronaut Christina Birch, a former cyclist with the U.S. national team, described her recent experience practicing splashdown for the Artemis 2 moon mission as "incredible." Birch, who recently graduated as a full-fledged astronaut, participated in recovery exercises off the coast of San Diego to assess procedures after splashdown. She will now support the development of the Orion spacecraft and the Artemis program, working alongside career technicians and fellow astronaut Randy Bresnick. Artemis 2 and Artemis 3 are the next missions for the NASA-led program, with Birch's first assignment involving aiding the development of the spacecraft.
