Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed security forces involved in resisting the paramilitary group Wagner's mutiny, praising them for defending the citizens' life, security, and freedom. Putin claimed that there were no civilian casualties during Wagner's advance towards Moscow.
Russian security forces have found boxes containing a total of 4 billion roubles (approximately US$47 million) near the office of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner Group Private Military Company, in St Petersburg. Prigozhin confirmed that the money was his and claimed that it was earmarked for wages, compensation for fighters killed in action, and other expenses. He also stated that Wagner Group has always used cash for all payments during its 10 years in business.
Russian political analyst Preobrazhensky commented on the recent interview with former FSO officer Gleb Karakulov, who fled Russia, saying that not all security officials adore Putin. He noted that it is problematic for security officials to flee Russia, as they cannot leave legally. Several security officials that he personally knows consider what is happening "madness, or savagery at the very least." Karakulov is the highest-ranking intelligence officer to flee the country and condemn the war since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
