Australian scientists have recorded a Murray cod named Arnie swimming a record 530 miles mostly upstream along a river system, highlighting significant fish migration and environmental health insights.
The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has captured an image of ancient riverine gravel ridges in the Aeolis Planum region of Mars, providing evidence of once-flowing rivers on the Red Planet. The High-Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on the orbiter photographed the ridges, indicating the presence of old river beds from Mars' distant past. This discovery adds to the growing body of evidence suggesting the existence of water on Mars and supports NASA's Mars Exploration Program.
