PCOS Associated with Cognitive Decline in Middle Age
A recent study suggests that women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) may face a higher risk of cognitive decline in midlife, shedding light on the potential impact of PCOS on brain health. The study included 1,163 women and found that those with PCOS showed lower performance in cognitive tests, particularly in attention, verbal learning and memory, and semantic fluency. Additionally, participants with PCOS demonstrated potential issues with white matter integrity in brain MRI scans. This research highlights the need for further understanding and addressing the potential cognitive effects of PCOS, a common reproductive disorder affecting millions of women worldwide.
