"From Captivity to Cuisine: The Israeli Hostages' First Meal of Freedom"
The Israeli Health Ministry has issued guidelines to local hospitals for feeding the 50 hostages released by Hamas in the cease-fire deal, as they may suffer from malnutrition. The guidelines address the treatment of refeeding syndrome, a potentially fatal condition that can occur when people who have not eaten properly for extended periods are suddenly introduced to a normal diet. The recommended diets vary based on age group, with children between one and three years old being given water, a sweet biscuit, unsweetened applesauce, and tea sweetened with sugar. Adolescents and adults are to be given water, a hot drink sweetened with sugar, three sweet biscuits, and unsweetened applesauce. The condition of the hostages is currently unknown, as they have been held captive for over 50 days in tunnels beneath Gaza.
