Weekend Weather: Chilly Start, Gradual Warming Ahead

The weather on Veterans Day was beautiful with temperatures around 60 degrees, but temperatures are expected to dip into the 30s tonight. Tomorrow will be cooler with high temperatures in the upper 40s to mid-50s. There is a rain deficit and drought conditions in the region, with some areas experiencing extreme drought. Rain chances are low until the end of next week.

Weather Outlook: Off-and-on clouds with showers, followed by cool fall days and gradual warming

The weather in Washington D.C. will be slightly warmer and less breezy on Monday, with temperatures reaching the mid-60s. There is a slight chance of showers and intermittent clouds throughout the day. Areas west of D.C. have a significant rainfall deficit, with some experiencing severe drought conditions. The October outlook suggests below-average precipitation for the month.

Weather Update: Hot and Stormy Days Ahead in DC Area.

Air quality in the D.C. region is straddling the yellow and orange levels on the U.S. Air Quality Index on Sunday afternoon, which means that air quality is generally acceptable but that people who are sensitive to air pollution could be at risk. A cold front Monday should bring continued air quality improvement, more humidity and beneficial rain in the form of thunderstorms. With a half-inch to an inch of rain possible Monday, we may halt the increasingly dry (and drought) conditions in our region.
