Georgia Power's Rate Increase Plan Approved by Regulators.
Georgia Power has been approved for a new rate hike to pay for the cost of coal, gas, and nuclear fuel used in its power plants. The increase will coincide with the onset of the company’s traditional higher summer rates, which also kick in June 1. The company had accumulated a fuel tab of almost $2.2 billion that it requested customers pay for. The PSC has signed off on two, 4.5% increases in the company’s base rates, which are set to take effect in both 2024 and 2025.
