Microsoft's latest Windows 11 preview build introduces broader access to Copilot+ features, including enhanced image descriptions via Narrator for all users, and new management options for IT admins. Additionally, Microsoft is testing an improved cross-device Resume feature that now leverages the Windows Notification System, expanding seamless activity continuation between devices. The update is available for Insiders in the Dev or Beta Channel, with some channel switching restrictions upcoming.
Microsoft has released a Windows 11 preview with a new Copilot-powered Taskbar search box that replaces the traditional search interface with a floating, AI-enhanced panel, offering faster results and integrated chat capabilities, though it currently has some usability and integration issues.
Microsoft has released the first preview build of Windows 11 with the new Windows Copilot feature, which is essentially an AI assistant for Windows. However, the initial preview is lacking in Windows integration as the Windows Copilot interface is actually the Bing Chat website delivered through Microsoft Edge. It currently has limited capabilities and can only configure basic Windows settings. The Windows Copilot is slow and not as efficient as manually performing tasks. Additionally, it lacks voice interaction and cannot analyze content outside of Edge. The fact that it is not a native Windows feature and relies on Edge is disappointing to users.
Microsoft is rolling out a new preview build of Windows 11 for Insiders in the Dev Channel, which includes a modern details pane in the File Explorer, improvements to Windows Spotlight, Start menu, and more. The new modern details pane provides an overview of a selected file, including a preview of the item, recent file activity, related files, and conversations. Microsoft has been modernizing parts of the File Explorer app since Windows 11 launched in 2021, and the new gallery and details pane are now in testing.
