The US Supreme Court has upheld a Texas law requiring age verification for access to pornography sites, citing state authority to protect minors, despite arguments from adult content providers that it infringes on free speech and privacy rights.
Three major pornography sites, Xvideos, Pornhub, and Stripchat, will be subjected to new regulatory curbs under the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA), including stricter requirements on age verification and content moderation. These platforms will be designated as "very large online platforms" and will be required to comply with measures such as implementing age verification systems, taking down illegal content, and undergoing external audits. Failure to comply with the new rules could result in fines of up to 6% of their global turnover. The DSA aims to police content online and has already designated 19 companies with special obligations.
