"Intel's Arrow Lake CPUs to Revolutionize Gaming with Thunderbolt 5 and PCIe 5.0 Support"

Intel's new Thunderbolt 5 controller, codenamed Barlow Bridge, will bring significant updates to the connectivity standard, including support for PCIe Gen4 x4 interface, enabling 64 Gbps bandwidth, and DisplayPort 2.1 support. Expected to be integrated into high-end gaming laptops and next-generation desktops under the Arrow Lake CPU series, Thunderbolt 5 will enable higher resolutions and modern graphics attached through PCIe Gen5x16 interface. However, Thunderbolt 5-enabled devices may not emerge until 2025 or 2026, despite the infrastructure being in place.

"Thunderbolt 5: Unveiling Lightning-Fast Speeds, Expanded Device Support, and USB4 Compatibility"

Intel has unveiled Thunderbolt 5, the latest iteration of its high-speed hardware interface technology. Thunderbolt 5 offers up to 3x the speed of Thunderbolt 4, with a total bandwidth potential of up to 120 Gbps. It supports DisplayPort 2.1, USB v4, USB 3 20G, and PCIe Gen4, and includes charging support of up to 240W. Thunderbolt 5 addresses the limitations of previous standards by unlocking greater bandwidth potential for external GPUs, but requires systems with PCIe compatible links operating at 64 Gbps speeds. The first systems featuring Thunderbolt 5 are expected to launch in 2024.

AMD's A620 Motherboards: Affordable Options for Budget Ryzen 7000 Builds

AMD has launched its entry-level A620 platform for AM5 processors, designed to power inexpensive PCs that use AMD's CPUs in AM5 packaging based on the Zen 4 microarchitecture. The platform omits support for overclocking, PCIe Gen5 connectivity, and USB 3.2 Gen2x2. Base AMD A620-based motherboards will not support higher-wattage CPUs. A620-based motherboards support factory-overclocked memory with EXPO profiles up to DDR5-6000 and only feature PCIe Gen4 speeds. AMD only has three AM5 processors with a 65W TDP, and only ASRock currently offers two A620 motherboards in the U.S.
