Jeff Bezos Rules Out Bidding for Washington Commanders

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos may turn his attention to buying the Seattle Seahawks, as the team is in better shape than the Commanders and could be sold by Jody Allen, sister of the late Paul Allen, who has been selling off his assets. The Seahawks are not currently for sale, but eventually will be, and if sold before May 2024, 10 percent of the proceeds will go to the State of Washington as part of the deal to build the team’s current stadium.

The US Navy research vessel Petrel, once owned by Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen, partially tipped over at a dry dock in Scotland, injuring 33 people. The ship was dislodged by gusty winds and left at a 45-degree angle. Emergency response services, including 12 ambulances, an air ambulance, and three trauma teams, were deployed to the scene. The Petrel was retrofitted to serve as an underwater research and exploration vessel and discovered several lost shipwrecks during its service years. An investigation will explore what went wrong.

Ship owned by Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen's estate tips over at Edinburgh dockyard, causing injuries.

The R/V Petrel, a research vessel that was previously owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen and was used to discover several WWII wrecks, tipped over about 45 degrees while in dry dock in Edinburgh, Scotland. 21 people were taken to the hospital with injuries and another 12 were treated at the dock and released. The ship had been laid up in Scotland until the Navy bought it in September 2022 for $12.4 million. The cause of the incident is unknown.

Microsoft cofounder's estate ship capsizes at Scottish dockyard.

A research ship owned by the estate of late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen has tipped over at a dockyard in Scotland, leaving at least 25 injured. The RV Petrel, which made global headlines for discovering the long-lost USS Indianapolis in 2017, among other deep-sea wrecks, was placed in long-term moorage in 2020 due to "operational challenges" from the coronavirus pandemic. The ship toppled over after becoming "dislodged from its holding in strong winds."
