Fundraising Challenges for NY House GOP Amid Speaker Fight

Donations to the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) have slowed, with the committee raising slightly over $5 million in October, about half of what it raised in previous off-year cycles. This comes as the NRCC faces cash challenges and trails its Democratic counterpart by about $10 million. The House Republicans' campaign arm has been affected by the recent leadership ouster and party infighting, which left them without a chief fundraiser. Despite a strong online fundraising surge following Speaker Mike Johnson's election, the NRCC's fundraising has been lackluster compared to previous years. Meanwhile, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has raised $8.1 million in October and $101.3 million year-to-date, breaking its previous fundraising record for a presidential cycle off-year.

"Jim Jordan Gains Momentum as GOP House Speaker Nominee Despite Opposition"

Hardline Republican Jim Jordan gained support for his campaign to become the next Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, aiming to overcome opposition within his own party through public votes. While it remains uncertain if he can unite enough Republicans to secure victory in the floor vote expected on Tuesday, Jordan expressed confidence in the momentum of his campaign. The ongoing Republican infighting has delayed important legislative work and stands out for its internal divisions rather than typical partisan disputes. Jordan has promised to prioritize military and spending legislation and has received endorsements from lawmakers who previously opposed him. However, some Republicans are exploring bipartisan agreements for a more centrist speaker, and if Jordan fails to secure the position, other candidates may enter the race.
