Satellite Detects Hidden Ocean Phenomena
A team of scientists using data from the SWOT satellite has discovered that small ocean eddies and submesoscale motions, previously difficult to detect, play a much larger role in ocean dynamics, climate, and marine ecosystems than previously understood, revealing new insights into how the ocean influences weather and climate systems.
