Scientists Unravel Ocean's Mysterious Quacking Sounds

Scientists have been intrigued by a mysterious ocean sound known as the Bio-Duck, first recorded in Antarctic waters in 1960. Initially linked to Antarctic minke whales, the sound's exact purpose remains unknown, though it appears to involve a conversational exchange between multiple sources. Recent studies suggest these sounds could be made by other cetaceans as well, leaving the mystery of their origin and purpose unsolved. The findings were discussed at the 187th Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America.
