Weekly Exercise Significantly Reduces Postpartum Depression Risk
A study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine suggests that more than an hour of moderate exercise per week can significantly reduce the severity of 'baby blues' and nearly halve the risk of postpartum depression in new mothers. The research, which analyzed data from over 4,000 women across 14 countries, found that starting exercise within 12 weeks after childbirth leads to greater reductions in depressive symptoms. The study recommends at least 80 minutes of moderate exercise weekly, such as brisk walking or water aerobics, to improve mental health post-birth.
