"NASA's New Frontiers competition faces significant multi-year delay, confirms agency"
Originally Published 2 years ago — by SpaceNews

NASA has announced a multi-year delay in the next New Frontiers planetary science mission competition due to budget uncertainties. Originally planned for this fall, the release of the call for proposals will now be postponed until no earlier than 2026. The delay is a result of budget constraints in the Planetary Science Division, making it difficult to release the announcement of opportunity (AO) and select a new mission. The potential list of missions eligible for selection may also be altered. NASA will seek guidance from the National Academies to determine which potential mission concepts should be included in the delayed AO.
