Firefighters suffer blindness from contaminated eyedrops.
A fire captain from Naples lost his vision in one eye after using recalled eyedrops that were contaminated with antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The CDC has warned against using EzriCare and Delsam Pharma artificial tears, which have been recalled due to the outbreak. The bacteria has infected 68 people in 16 states, causing three deaths and eight cases of vision loss. The fire captain is suing for negligence and hopes surgery will restore his sight. Symptoms of the infection include pain, discharge, redness, light sensitivity, and blurry vision.
