"Guinea's Ex-Junta Leader Recaptured After Daring Prison Break"
Moussa Dadis Camara, the former leader of Guinea's 2008 military junta, has been recaptured after escaping from prison along with three other high-ranking officers. Two of the escapees have also been recaptured, while one remains at large. The recaptured individuals have been returned to a federal prison in Guinea's capital. Guinea's borders have been closed to prevent the escapees from fleeing the country. Camara and others have been on trial for their alleged involvement in a stadium massacre and mass rape in 2009. Guinea is currently governed by military leader Mamady Doumbouya, who came to power in a coup in 2021.
