Former Guinea dictator Moussa Dadis Camara recaptured after armed prison escape
Former Guinea dictator Moussa Dadis Camara, who led a military junta in 2008, has been recaptured and returned to prison after an armed commando attempted a jailbreak. At least two other former officials on trial for a 2009 massacre were also taken during the operation. The circumstances of Camara's capture remain unclear, with his lawyer suggesting he was kidnapped and in danger. Guinea is currently governed by military leader Mamady Doumbouya, who came to power in a coup in 2021.
