"Unraveling the Tragic Murder of Brianna Ghey: Inside the Minds of the Teenage Killers"
Two teenagers, Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe, were sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Brianna Ghey. Jenkinson admitted to stabbing Brianna repeatedly because she thought Brianna was going to stop being her friend and this was a way they could always be together. She had planned to take one of Brianna’s body parts as a “token” but was disturbed by dog walkers. Ratcliffe's motives were described as banal and influenced by his neurodivergence, but the judge found that he was motivated in part by hostility towards Brianna because she was transgender. Brianna's mother believes transphobia played a role in Ratcliffe's motivation and that Jenkinson killed her daughter for fun.
