Caltech Unveils Versatile Morphobot: Walking, Driving, and Flying in One

Caltech has developed a new robot called the M4 (Multi-Modal Mobility Morphobot) that can change its shape to walk, drive, and fly. Packed with electronics and a small computer, the M4 can autonomously decide which form to take based on its surroundings. It can switch between large wheels for driving, rotors for flying, and standing on two wheels for rough terrain or better visibility. The robot's versatility could have applications in areas such as medical transportation and space exploration. Caltech has previously created other versatile robots, including LEONARDO, a bipedal robot with propellers for arms, and a launchable transforming drone.
