Ukrainian forces have adapted their drone capabilities to include the deployment of mines behind Russian lines, using modified Soviet-era PTM-3 anti-tank mines with custom "johnny" fuzes. These fuzes are designed to activate the mine upon impact, movement, or when in proximity to armored vehicles or soldiers with metal equipment. This new tactic allows for the seeding of minefields in dangerous areas without risking human lives, and has been used to effectively hinder Russian troop movements by forcing them to assume all roads within drone range are potentially mined.
