"Turkey's Indigenous 5th Generation Fighter Successfully Completes Maiden Flight"
Turkey's first national combat aircraft, KAAN, completed its maiden flight, marking a significant milestone in the country's efforts to upgrade its air force. The fifth-generation fighter jet, initially powered by General Electric F-110 engines, boasts stealth capabilities and is part of Turkey's TF-X project. The country aims to use domestically produced engines on KAAN in serial production, starting in 2028. Additionally, Turkey recently secured a deal to procure F-16 fighter jets and modernization kits from the United States, and is also interested in purchasing Eurofighter Typhoon jets.
