Resumption of US-China Military Dialogue Boosted by Biden-Xi Meeting
The United States and China have restored communications between their two militaries, with Gen. Charles Q. Brown holding a videoconference call with his Chinese counterpart, Gen. Liu Zhenli. This marks a significant step in the relationship between the two powerful militaries, which have had frosty relations in recent years due to tensions over Taiwan and the South China Sea. The call comes after President Biden and President Xi Jinping agreed to resume the dialogue during a summit last month. Gen. Brown emphasized the importance of communication to reduce misunderstandings and miscalculations, while China stressed the need for the U.S. to have a correct understanding of China.
