"Mayor Terminates $40M Funding and Revokes Grants Over Unethical Actions"

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg has revoked $40 million in city grants that were at the center of an ethics controversy involving Metro Council member Anthony Piagentini. Greenberg called for the funds to be redirected to Metro parks and libraries projects, removing CEOc from oversight. The Metro Ethics Commission recommended Piagentini's removal from office after he accepted a $240,000 consulting deal with CEOc just before the Metro Council approved the grants. Greenberg called on the council to quickly reallocate the funds, with $16 million going directly to four organizations and the remaining $24 million to Metro parks and libraries.

Controversy Surrounds Auction of Gun Used in Louisville Shooting Under State Law

The AR-15-style rifle used in the deadly Louisville shooting that killed five people will be auctioned off to the public in the future, according to Mayor Craig Greenberg. He called for a change to the state law that mandates guns confiscated by local police be returned to state police and then put up for purchase at auction. Greenberg appealed to the state’s GOP-led legislature to allow local municipalities to regulate their own firearm ordinances, which would allow his administration to “destroy the guns that have been used to kill our friends.”

Controversy Surrounds Auction of Gun Used in Louisville Shooting

The AR-15 rifle used in the Louisville bank shooting that killed five people could be auctioned off due to a Kentucky law. Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg called for the law to be changed and for more gun control measures to be implemented. Under the current law, confiscated guns must be auctioned off to federally-licensed firearms dealers, with proceeds used to purchase police equipment. Greenberg previously made a policy to have the firing pin removed from confiscated guns before they're turned over to the state.

Controversy Surrounds Fate of AR-15 Used in Louisville Shooting

The semi-automatic rifle used in the Louisville bank shooting that killed five people and injured nine will likely be auctioned off and be "back on the streets," according to Mayor Craig Greenberg. Current Kentucky law allows guns seized by the police to go to auction, including those used in violent crimes. The Louisville Metro Police Department revealed shooter Connor Sturgeon purchased the AR-15 rifle legally from a local gun dealership on April 4. The mayor vowed his office will continue to alter seized weapons before they're auctioned to keep them from being used in another homicide, including removing the firing pin.
