Google Home app's customizable "Favorites" tab now allows users to add lighting groups of an entire room, a feature that has been heavily requested. The update is currently rolling out to Public Preview testers and applies to the new "Home Panel" on Pixel devices. While there is no shortcut for turning off all lights at once, this is still a step in the right direction.
The Google Home app has added new in-app garage door controls and revamped lighting controls. The app now has a new "Inbox" and revamped "Activity" tab. The garage door controls are currently being tested on the Google Home preview. The changes to the app seem to be appearing for some users on the latest Google Home version 3.0 for users on the preview version of the app.
Google Home app version 3.0 has introduced an "Inbox" feed that replaces the old "Activity" tab, while version 3.1 has redesigned lighting controls with more color options and fine-grain controls. The circular on/off button has been replaced by a large pill that acts as a slider, and a grid of presets appears below. The app also features a notification bell icon that opens the "Inbox" feed.
