AMD's Ryzen 7040U series dominates mobile computing market.

AMD has officially announced its new low-power laptop chip, Ryzen 7840U, which is claimed to outperform Apple's M2 processor in application performance by up to 75%. The chip also takes on Intel Core i7-1360P in productivity and graphics. The company claims that the chip offers up to a 24% application performance increase over the 6850H chip. The Ryzen 7840U is part of the new 15- to 30-watt lineup of U-series parts, which includes Ryzen 9, Ryzen 7, and Ryzen 3 series parts with three different tiers of graphics.
