Ukraine's Strategic Moves: Breaking Land Corridor and Ramping Up Counteroffensive

Ukraine's defense ministry believes that its forces have the potential to break the land corridor connecting occupied Crimea with Russia before winter, as they have already pierced Russia's first defensive line in the southern axis. Limited numbers of Ukraine's reserve troops have been deployed, while Russia is resorting to under-strength reserves earlier than planned. The intelligence chief also highlighted Russia's lack of strategic reserve and the insufficient manpower and equipment of its 25th Combined Arms Army. Ukrainian Forces Aim to Cut Russia's Land Corridor to Crimea Ahead of Winter

Ukrainian Defence Forces may be able to sever Russia's land corridor with occupied Crimea before winter, according to Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. Russia, in desperation, has prematurely deployed reserves, but they are insufficient and lack necessary personnel and equipment. Budanov believes that the slow pace of advance against a well-prepared Russian army is a reflection of reality, and Ukraine still has time before the muddy season arrives.
