University of Minnesota President Joan Gabel is leaving to become chancellor at the University of Pittsburgh, where her son is a student. Gabel's move comes with a significant bump in pay, with an annual base salary of $950,000, 35% more than what she's making at the U. Gabel faced criticism last year for joining the board of St. Paul-based financial services firm Securian while continuing to run the U.
