Doctors Successfully Reattach Boy's Head After Horrifying Accident
Doctors in Jerusalem, Israel, have successfully reattached the skull of a 12-year-old boy who suffered "internal decapitation" in a car accident. The rare and life-threatening injury, known as atlanto-occipital dislocation, occurred when the ligaments connecting the boy's skull to his spine were severely damaged. Surgeons performed a complex operation to reconnect the bones and protect the spinal cord, using innovative technology. The boy is now recovering and showing no signs of lasting nerve damage.
