"Man left 'brain dead' after attempting to remove ingrown hair"
A 36-year-old man, Steven Spinale, was left brain dead with a 4% chance of survival after attempting to remove an ingrown hair in his groin, leading to blood poisoning and sepsis. He was placed in a medically induced coma, underwent open heart surgery, and battled multiple health complications, including influenza A, pneumonia, and acute respiratory distress syndrome. Despite the grim prognosis, Steven emerged from the coma with no brain damage and is on the road to recovery, learning to sit up and regaining his ability to walk after being released from the hospital.
