Impact of Covid Vaccine on Newborns: Findings from a Comprehensive Study
A large study published in JAMA Pediatrics found that getting a Covid vaccine while pregnant is not linked to adverse outcomes in newborns and infants. In fact, it may protect against severe neonatal morbidity, death, and NICU admission. The study examined 142,006 live births in Ontario and found that infants exposed to the vaccine during pregnancy had lower risks of severe disease and NICU placement. The researchers also did not find a link between maternal vaccination and hospital readmission. The study highlights the safety and potential benefits of Covid vaccination during pregnancy for both mothers and their babies.
