"Revolutionizing Computing: The Rise of Neuromorphic Supercomputing"
A supercomputer named 'DeepSouth' is set to switch on in 2024, simulating the entire function of a human brain at full scale, capable of 228 trillion synaptic operations per second. Developed by researchers at the International Centre for Neuromorphic Systems (ICNS) at Western Sydney University, the supercomputer aims to shed light on how a healthy and diseased human brain functions, while also advancing AI technology and understanding brain-scale computing applications in various fields.
