Teen Sentenced to Jail for Involvement in Homeless Woman's Pellet Gun Killing

Teens Charged in 'Hobo Hunting' Killing of Homeless Woman

An 18-year-old man, William Innes, pleaded not guilty to murder charges after allegedly shooting and killing a 68-year-old homeless woman, Annette Pershal, with a pellet gun in Serra Mesa. Co-defendant Ryan Hopkins, who allegedly drove Innes to the crime scene, also pleaded not guilty to assault with a deadly weapon. Prosecutors claim that Innes sent a message to a group chat stating he was "going hobo hunting with a pellet gun" just minutes before the shooting. Pershal was found unconscious and later died in the hospital from multiple pellet gun wounds. Both defendants remain in custody without bail.

Heroic man saves girl from homeless woman's attack in South LA

A homeless woman attacked a Los Angeles girl on her way to school, shouting racial slurs. A good Samaritan, John Irias, rushed to help and was cut across the face with a box cutter by the assailant. Despite his injury, Irias was able to hold the woman down until police arrived. The student was unharmed and able to continue walking to school. Irias said the attack appeared to be random and triggered by racism. His friend, Victor Camarena, helped detain the woman and called 911.
