"Outrage as Hundreds of MS Patients Denied Medicine"
A Public Services Ombudsman investigation found that as many as 500 multiple sclerosis patients in south-east Wales may have missed out on fampridine, a potentially life-improving medication, despite its approval by the Welsh government as an NHS-funded treatment in 2019. Rachelle Ledsam, a patient with MS, expressed anger and frustration over the health board's failure to provide the medication, which could improve her walking ability and quality of life. The health board accepted the findings and agreed to implement recommendations, including apologizing to affected patients and establishing an action plan to introduce fampridine urgently.
