IMSA has released the 2026 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship entry list, featuring 45 full-season entries across various classes, with notable changes including team shifts and new entries, and an expected season-opening car count exceeding 60.
Ford has unveiled the 2025 Mustang GTD, a race car for the road with over 800 horsepower and a sub-7-minute Nurburgring lap time. Hand-assembled at Multimatic's facilities in Canada, the GTD features a carbon fiber exterior, a hydraulically controlled rear wing, and an optional carbon fiber underbody aero package. It is powered by an improved 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, equipped with a new dry-sump oil system, and paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch rear transaxle. The GTD also boasts a unique suspension system with adaptive spool valve dampers and hydraulic control.
Chip Ganassi Racing's Cadillac driven by Renger van der Zande and Sebastien Bourdais won the Motul Course de Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, making Cadillac the first manufacturer to claim a repeat victory in the new IMSA GTP era. The No. 6 Penske Porsche 963 of Nick Tandy and Mathieu Jaminet came second, followed by the No. 25 Team RLL BMW M8 Hybrid V8 of Nick Yelloly and Alexander Sims' AXR Cadillac. Kellymoss with Riley scored its maiden class win with Kay van Berlo and Alan Metni leading a sweep of the top seven positions for GTD machines among the production-based ranks.
Scott Dixon in the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac leads the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring after four hours, with Louis Deletraz in the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport Acura ARX-06 in second and Felipe Nasr in the No. 7 Porsche Penske Motorsports 963 in third. Antonio Garcia claimed GTD Pro pole honors in a shortened session following a heavy impact by Klaus Bachler in the No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R. Ben Keating claimed LMP2 pole honors in the No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca 07 Gibson, while the LMP3 class pole went to the No. 36 Andretti Autosport Ligier JS P320 Nissan of Glenn van Berlo.
