India successfully launches next-gen navigation satellite aboard GSLV.
India successfully launched its second-generation navigation satellite, NVS-01, aboard a GSLV Mk.II rocket. The Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) system, developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is a regional satellite navigation network. The second-generation satellites will fly with Indian-developed atomic clocks and incorporate enhancements to expand the capabilities of the NavIC constellation. The new L1 signal broadcast by NVS-01 will improve interoperability with other satellite navigation systems such as the US Global Positioning System (GPS) network.
