"Grand Jury Exonerates Man in Fatal Shooting of Taqueria Robber in Houston"

A Harris County grand jury has decided not to charge a customer who shot and killed an armed robber during a heist at El Ranchito taqueria in Houston. The incident, captured on security video, showed the customer acting in self-defense when Eric Eugene Washington robbed patrons at gunpoint. The grand jury's "no bill" decision means they found insufficient evidence for criminal charges, following a review of the case by the Houston Police Department and community standards set by the District Attorney's Office.

Court Rules Against Trump, Pence Can Testify in Jan. 6 Investigation

A federal appeals court rejected an emergency attempt by former President Donald Trump to stop former Vice President Mike Pence from testifying in front of a grand jury investigating Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Pence is a potentially important witness in the inquiry because of conversations he took part in at the White House in the weeks leading up to the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Trump Appeals Order for Pence to Testify in Jan. 6 Probe

Former President Donald Trump has appealed a judge's order requiring his former vice president, Mike Pence, to testify in the special counsel probe into efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. The case remains under seal, but a new sealed case appeared on the federal appeals court docket in Washington, D.C., that referred to a grand jury matter before U.S. District Chief Judge James Boasberg. Special Counsel Jack Smith is presenting evidence to grand juries in two separate investigations, one looking into attempts to interfere with the peaceful transfer of power following Trump's November 2020 loss to Biden, and the second looking at Trump's retention of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida after leaving office in January 2021, and whether he tried to obstruct the Justice Department's investigation.
