Judge Rules UNC Shooter Tailei Qi Incompetent for Trial
A court has ruled that Tailei Qi, a UNC graduate student charged with killing his professor, is "incapable in proceeding to trial" due to mental illness. Qi's last appearance was postponed pending a mental evaluation, and he has requested new attorneys. While the murder charge carries the possibility of the death penalty, the district attorney has stated that he will not pursue it if Qi is convicted.
