Ohio Braces for Severe Lake-Effect Snow with State of Emergency Declared
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has declared a state of emergency for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake counties due to heavy lake-effect snow, with more expected. This declaration allows for quicker state assistance, including the deployment of 157 trucks by the Ohio Department of Transportation. The region has already experienced several feet of snow, leading to school and road closures, and a winter storm watch is in effect with forecasts predicting additional snowfall and strong winds. The Ohio State Highway Patrol has reported 54 car crashes in the affected areas.
