The U.S. Postal Service announced that Betty White, the beloved television icon who passed away in 2021, will be commemorated with a postage stamp in 2025. The stamp, designed by Greg Breeding and based on a 2010 photograph by Kwaku Alston, honors White's seven-decade career in television, including her roles in 'The Golden Girls' and 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show,' as well as her advocacy for animals. The announcement is part of a partial list of 2025 stamps, which also includes tributes to Keith Haring and Allen Toussaint.
"Golden Girls" writer Stan Zimmerman reflects on his experiences working with Betty White and Estelle Getty, revealing that White made jokes at Getty's expense on set to deflect attention from Getty's struggles with early dementia. Zimmerman believes White was trying to help Getty collect herself during panic attacks caused by the pressure of quick script changes. He also addresses rumors of tension between White and Bea Arthur, attributing it to their different work ethics and personalities.
