A four-year-old boy from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, collapsed and almost died after drinking a strawberry-flavored slushy drink, leading to a diagnosis of glycerol intolerance. His parents rushed him to the hospital where he received life-saving treatment. This incident follows a similar case earlier this year involving a three-year-old boy who also collapsed after consuming a slushy drink. The Food Standard Agency has issued guidance recommending that slushy drinks not be sold to children aged four or younger, but some parents are advocating for the age limit to be raised to 10 due to the potential risks associated with glycerol exposure.
