The Rising Concern of 'Chemsex' and Its Impact on Sexual Experiences
The London Ambulance Service has reported an increase in chemsex-related callouts, prompting a guide on how to engage in chemsex as safely as possible. Chemsex refers to the practice of taking drugs for the purpose of having sex, often involving GHB, GBL, mephedrone, and crystal meth. Harm reduction expert Dr. Benjamin Weil advises starting with low doses, accurately measuring and timing doses, and avoiding mixing G with other depressants, including alcohol. He also emphasizes the risks of dependency and overdose with GHB/GBL. For mephedrone, safe injecting practices are crucial, while crystal meth poses addiction risks and mental health tolls. Practicing safer sex, setting boundaries, and seeking support are also important aspects of engaging in chemsex safely.
