"The Physical Toll of Video Gaming: Research Reveals Surprising Health Impacts"
A new study published in Computers in Human Behavior suggests that engaging in video gaming sessions exceeding three hours in a single stretch is associated with physical problems such as eye fatigue, hand or wrist pain, and back or neck pain. The research, part of the 2022 International Gaming Study, involved 955 participants from four countries and found a dose-response relationship between prolonged gaming sessions and physical symptoms. The presence of an internet gaming disorder also demonstrated a significant effect on reported physical problems. The study highlights the need for interventions promoting healthier gaming habits to mitigate these physical impacts.
