Gas Shortage Panic Eases in South Florida with EPA's Boosting Move.
Torrential rainstorms in Florida damaged critical infrastructure, causing severe gasoline shortages in the state's southeast. The Environmental Protection Agency is working to increase gasoline supplies, while Florida is delivering fuel directly to the areas where the shortage is most acute. The state has requested an EPA waiver to allow gas stations to sell a blend of fuel not normally available in warmer months. As of Thursday afternoon, 47% of gas stations in Miami and Fort Lauderdale were without fuel.
