Several school systems in the Washington, D.C. region are implementing delayed opening times for Monday, January 22 due to frigid temperatures and concerns about slick road conditions from refreezing. Frederick County Public Schools and Stafford County Public Schools in Virginia have announced a two-hour delay, with early morning wind chills expected to be in the single digits and below zero.
South Carolina is bracing for plummeting temperatures in two waves, with the first wave hitting on Tuesday and the second on Saturday.
