Uganda's Anti-LGBTQ Bill Sparks International Outrage.
The passing of a new anti-gay bill in Uganda has left members of the LGBTQ community worried about their safety and potential homelessness. The bill prescribes the death penalty for "aggravated homosexuality" and life imprisonment for "homosexuality," with jail terms of up to 20 years proposed for those who advocate or promote LGBTQ rights. Frank Mugisha, head of the banned LGBTQ support group Sexual Minorities Uganda, expressed concern about being evicted from his home and being unable to work in the country. The United Nations, the United States, and others are urging President Yoweri Museveni to block the legislation.
