After 28 years, DNA evidence found on the clasp of Wilma Mobley's underwear has led authorities to identify her former neighbor, Danny Lee Kennison, as her killer. Mobley was found dead in 1995 from strangulation and an "attack with an axe type instrument." Kennison, who died by suicide in 2001, was previously considered a possible suspect. The case went cold until new investigators reopened it in 2022 and submitted evidence for advanced DNA analysis. The recent testing revealed a significant amount of DNA matching Kennison, leading to the closure of the cold case.

Forensic and ballistic testing is still pending to determine if the gun was used in the crimes. Card allegedly killed 18 people and injured 13 others at two Lewiston businesses before being found dead. The Ruger SFAR is a big game rifle that won the 2023 Rifle of the Year award.
Prosecutors in New Mexico are investigating whether the gun Alec Baldwin was handling when it went off and killed “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins might have been intentionally modified. The modification appears to be related to the notches on the internal portion of the hammer for full cock, half cock and quarter cock positions. The development comes a month after prosecutors dropped the criminal case against Baldwin in Hutchins’s October 2021 death. If the gun is found to have been modified, it could bolster Baldwin’s contention that he never pulled the trigger when it discharged.
