Tragic Loss: Teen Piano Prodigy Loses Limbs to Deadly Illness
Mathias Uribe, a 14-year-old piano prodigy from Tennessee, had his hands and feet amputated after a flu-like illness led to a deadly immune overreaction. Diagnosed with toxic shock syndrome, Mathias experienced organ damage and his lungs began to fail, resulting in the amputation of all four limbs. His parents hope he will be able to play the piano again one day with prosthetics. Mathias's case is considered extremely rare, and his family is raising funds for his medical bills and prosthetics.
